Colorado Wedding Planner: Mary and Scott
Posted by johnna-patton on May 11th, 2016
Mary and Scott had a beautiful fall wedding at the Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Granby, Colorado. The bride was stunning, the groom was handsome but…..Mary and Scott’s son Beau stole the show! Beau is darling and very busy. It was one of those perfect, sunny, Colorado fall days and with the help of Cindy from Bloom Flower Shop, Devil’s Thumb Ranch was transformed. A huge thank you also to Joe Kusamoto of Joe Kusamoto Photography for capturing this amazing day!
Colorado Wedding Planner: Engagement Party Ideas!
Posted by johnna-patton on April 27th, 2016
It’s spring! Time to pack away your sweaters and start the planning for all of your nuptial related festivities! Engagement parties are the first of many parties you will throw or have thrown for you this year. As a Colorado wedding planner, I want to help you jump start your planning process! Here are a few engagement party ideas so you can get to the champagne popping faster!
Engagement Party Themes
Engagement parties are all about celebration and joy. Pick a theme that helps your guests become as excited and full of love as you are!
Vintage Ice Cream Parlor. Go way back when to romance was sharing a milkshake on a Friday night.
Backyard Picnic. Think twinkle lights, campfires, and gooey s’mores.
Colorful Carnival. Let your guests eat cotton candy and share the sweetness of your engagement.
Mexican Fiesta. Nothing says let’s get this party started like margaritas and a piñata.
Beach Bound Lobster Bake. Relax on the beach one more time before the planning craze starts.
Elegant Wine Tasting. Cheese and crackers while sipping away at a local winery is a great night out for both you and your guests.
Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Easy Wedding Favor Ideas
Posted by johnna-patton on April 9th, 2016
Sometimes you’re the peaceful bride whose wedding planning has gone off without a single hitch, and sometimes you’re the chaotic bride running down the aisle of Michael’s looking for favors 2 days before your wedding. Because seriously, how can you be expected to remember everything?
Let’s start off by saying that the easiest favors involve you putting something in a bag or box. If you’ve forgotten about your wedding favors and you have started the wedding countdown clock, save yourself a headache and go with these simple ideas.
Kraft paper bags are really handy. If you have a couple of weeks, you can have them printed and personalized. Otherwise, just use a stamp or twine (and if you leave them completely plain, I promise there is no such thing as the Wedding Police to hunt you down). Below, these paper bags were used to wrap coffee beans from a bulk bag. There are few favors easier than buying whole bean coffee at Costco and filling paper bags.
I know it’s hard to believe after that buffet dinner your guests just consumed, but edible favors are always a hit. Go to your local bakery and purchase pretty macarons (below) and wrap them in tiny white boxes. French macarons are super delicate, so bagging them will just lead to sad, smooshed cookies.
After a night of partying, your guests are going to go back and crash and probably not wake up feeling like a million bucks (reality, people). Save your guests from the horrors of trying to find something for breakfast in the hotel vending machine by passing out donut favors. This cutie example below is really creative, but might take more time than you have. Fill up a cup with donut holes, throw on a lid, and leave a sign. Your guests won’t care about the missing straw flag and washi tape.
Another really easy idea is to wrap up glass bottles of Coca-Cola and hand them to people on their way out. You can also make little cocktail-to-go kits (below, right), but those will run you about $5-7 per favor, so it’s probably a better idea for a smaller guest list.
One of the trendiest favors right now is potted succulents. You don’t have time for an afternoon gardening, though, so purchase them pre-potted. Do not spend the morning of your wedding day transferring succulents into pots to save money. Just don’t.
Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Candice and Marshall’s Engagement Shoot
Posted by johnna-patton on March 20th, 2016
Marshall surprised Candice with a proposal on July 3rd during a family trip to California. The whole family went to La Jolla to look at the seals (wink, wink) and hike down into the sea caves. The next thing Candice knew, her and Marshall were all alone in a cave that opened up to the ocean. The waves were lapping into the cave as Marshall was on one knee with a beautiful ring! With their ocean inspired proposal, it was only fitting that their engagement photos be taken by a beautiful Colorado lake. Thank you Plum Pretty Photography for these amazing images!
