Colorado Wedding Planner: Candice and Marshall

Posted by on February 21st, 2017

Candice and Marshall’s wedding was a family affair!  Marshall’s daughter Presley was included in every part of the day–from the sand ceremony to the first dance.  Candice and Marshall rented the River Tree Lodge and got married on the shore of the Blue River.  Spectacular!  They enjoyed dinner and dancing in a gorgeous tent right on the property. As a Colorado wedding planner I am always thrilled to be part of a tent wedding–they are so creative! Salt Creek Steakhouse provided an amazing meal as DJ Spud of Elite Entertainment got the party going.  Candice and her father put in hours of practice on their first dance and it was a hit!  If that isn’t enough fun, the guests could head over to the Photo Booth and get some great snaps!  A huge thank you to Melissa of Plum Pretty Photography  for these amazing photos!

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Carolyn & Abel

Posted by on January 27th, 2017

This wedding was the definition of an elopement. Just the couple, the officiant and a photographer. Carolyn and Abel are from Chicago, IL and wanted their Colorado wedding to be just the two of them. Sapphire Point was such a perfect venue for the two of them to say their ‘I do’s’. After their gorgeous sunny ceremony, they headed to Keystone for a quick photo shoot then off to dinner at the Alpenglow Stube. I love how the weather was perfectly sunny for their ceremony at Sapphire Point and then cloudy and a little snowy for their photo shoot in Keystone. Congratulations Carolyn and Abel it was such a pleasure being your wedding planners! Thank you to Jamie Fischer Photography for capturing their day and sharing these amazing photos!

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Chat with a couple Wedding Photographers :)

Posted by on January 20th, 2017

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with a couple of my new favorite photographers, Joe and Fred of VN Images. They are amazing guys and their photos aren’t bad either 🙂 See below for the amazing wedding they did at Cheesman Park. Food trucks were onsite and the reception was held at Jazz at Jacks.

To book, check out their website vn-images.com or call 970.485.4562.

What got you into wedding photography? Joe: I love taking photos of people. It’s always something new and different. It’s also very fast paced which keeps my attention.

Fred: For me it seemed like a natural progression. I started off shooting anything I could, which led to a few portrait sessions for friends. One of those sessions led to our first wedding. Taking photos of humans on their wedding day is crazy fast and fun.

What style(s) do you specialize in? Joe: I would say street photography. I have a great passion in traveling; one of my favorite things to do while traveling is taking my camera out on the street and capturing images that tell a story. I like having a unique style. I think that’s pretty important in choosing a wedding photographer.

Fred: If I had to choose, it would be wildlife and portraits. I love being outdoors. I grew up hunting. I’ve traded in the bows and guns for a camera. Wildlife photography demands all of the patience and skills of hunting, without the mess. I also really enjoy portraits. So far my portrait shoots have been in great locations and the clients have a lot of fun with it.

What is your favorite Summit County venue? Joe: I haven’t shot a wedding in Summit County. But being a person that likes to be outside I would have to say in the mountains, being in a large Aspen grove or one of my favorite mountain lakes.

Fred: I’m with Joe on this one. I haven’t shot a wedding here yet. But this is my home and there are thousands of locations up here. It would be almost impossible to pick a bad spot.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding day? Joe: I would have to say before the wedding when the bride and groom are hanging out with their friends and loved ones. Everyone is a little more relaxed and comfortable.

Fred: I like reception and the party. It’s fun to watch everyone start to let go and get a bit loose. It leads to some of the best candid shots a photographer could ask for.

What is your favorite time of year to shoot? Joe: Fall. The colors are always spectacular up here in Summit County, from the trees to the brush to the perfect crisp blue sky!

Fred: Every season has something spectacular about, but to sound like a broken record, I agree with Joe. The fall is my favorite season and no matter where you are, the colors are guaranteed to be perfect.

Do you follow a shot list? Or do you prefer to have free reign to capture the festivities how you see fit? Joe: I try to keep a small shot list. I mean, you have to get the kiss! But I also enjoy roaming around and freelancing.

Fred: There is always a shot list. And the clients will have one too. We like to keep the process of how we get those shots very free and open.

What kind of equipment do you use? Joe: Iphone…j/k. I’m shooting with a Canon 6d and my lens of choice would be my nifty 50

Fred: Canon 6D with a quiver of lenses.

Do you always have a second shooter? Yes. That is the beauty of going in on a partnership with Fred. We can literally be in two places at once. We both have different eyes as well.

Fred: What he said.
