Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Bridesmaid’s Dresses

This is a look I love. When all the bridesmaids wear something different and when they come together, they all correspond with each other. It translates into something so beautiful. When considering what is disregarded after a wedding, one time use bridesmaid’s dresses came to mind. A bride will choose one dress that all of her bridesmaids will wear to look cohesive. Now there are other great ways to have your bridesmaid choose a dress to fit their personal style and still look cohesive. One way is to give a general color and have all of your ladies choose a dress in that color scheme. Give them all the same bouquet and have that tie the look together. Another way is to have all of your bridesmaids choose from a certain dress designer that has many different styles. Assign the color but they can pick what best fits their body. Lisa Eaton is a local artist in Fairplay, Colorado. She is a Californian who relocated to the Colorado Rocky Mountains seven years ago. Torn between the mountains and the sea, she appears to unite them through her whimsical art. You can find her most days at her ‘beach’ front studio and gallery, The Mountain Mermaid. Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Baby’s Breath

Baby’s Breath is not only a less expensive alternative to flowers but also a much greener option. If you purchase organic baby’s breath, you are saving gallons off pesticides that would normally be used on flowers. At the end of the night, the baby’s breath can just be tossed into the compost along with the food scraps. Plus baby’s breath is huge this season and I think very beautiful! Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Reusable Wedding Centerpiece

Rachael from Rachael Grace Photography came up with the idea of having succulents or herbs as wedding centerpieces for our Green/Recyclable Wedding Challenge. I couldn’t love this idea more. It acts as double duty because after they act as centerpieces, guests can take the succulents and herbs home. Instead of giving a favor that can pollute the environment, you can give a favor that will brighten a home and make your guests think of you every time they look at it.

After creating the tin can lantern for the recycled/green wedding décor project with Rachael Grace Photography, I wanted to do something else with tin cans. The idea of being able to place something in the recycling instead of the trash at the end of the night was so appealing. As a wedding planner, the end of the night can be a little sad. Not only is the big event over, we also have to throw away so much décor. With tin cans, you can just throw it in the recycling. Much better! To make these cans only took about 10 minutes. Wrap it with your wedding colors in lace or ribbon and voila! You have a green, recyclable vase!
