Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Lisa Eaton

Posted by on November 21st, 2013

Lisa Eaton is a local artist in Fairplay, Colorado. She is a Californian who relocated to the Colorado Rocky Mountains seven years ago. Torn between the mountains and the sea, she appears to unite them through her whimsical art. You can find her most days at her ‘beach’ front studio and gallery, The Mountain Mermaid. When Rachael Grace Photography came to me and asked me to do a recycling/green décor photo-shoot, I knew I wanted to include Lisa’s amazing wire art. She makes these amazing tiaras and wire wrapped wine glasses.  She welcomes special orders so call her at 970.389.6411 or stop by the gallery located at 523 Front Street in Fairplay, Colorado.

Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Baby’s Breath

Posted by on October 31st, 2013

Baby’s Breath is not only a less expensive alternative to flowers but also a much greener option. If you purchase organic baby’s breath, you are saving gallons off pesticides that would normally be used on flowers.  At the end of the night, the baby’s breath can just be tossed into the compost along with the food scraps. Plus baby’s breath is huge this season and I think very beautiful! Thank you Rachael from Rachael Grace Photography for these awesome photos!

Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Reusable Wedding Centerpiece

Posted by on October 18th, 2013

Rachael from Rachael Grace Photography came up with the idea of having succulents or herbs as wedding centerpieces for our Green/Recyclable Wedding Challenge. I couldn’t love this idea more. It acts as double duty because after they act as centerpieces, guests can take the succulents and herbs home.  Instead of giving a favor that can pollute the environment, you can give a favor that will brighten a home and make your guests think of you every time they look at it.

Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Lace, Ribbon, Burlap

Posted by on October 2nd, 2013

After creating the tin can lantern for the recycled/green wedding décor project with Rachael Grace Photography, I wanted to do something else with tin cans.  The idea of being able to place something in the recycling instead of the trash at the end of the night was so appealing. As a wedding planner, the end of the night can be a little sad. Not only is the big event over, we also have to throw away so much décor. With tin cans, you can just throw it in the recycling. Much better! To make these cans only took about 10 minutes. Wrap it with your wedding colors in lace or ribbon and voila! You have a green, recyclable vase!

Recycled/Green Wedding Details: Tin Can Lanterns

Posted by on September 5th, 2013

For the recycled/green wedding décor project with Rachael Grace Photography, I wanted to incorporate something that would be beautiful at your wedding and then could be tossed into the recycling afterwards. That led me to the tin can lantern. To make it I peeled the label off, filled the cans with water and froze them. This helps to keep the can intact when you are punching the holes.  Take the tin can out of the freezer and just start punching. You can make a pattern with paper and wrap it around the can if you choose. When you are done, you can spray paint the can with one of your wedding colors. Next, you place a candle inside and the room will glow with your recyclable creation.
