Destination Wedding Planner: How to include your dog in your wedding day

If you are thinking about including your best fury friend in your wedding plans, here are some tips for you:

The first thing to consider is the personality of your dog.  If the event will be more stressful than fun for your dog, you may want to weigh in how important it is to include him or her.

If you have decided that Fido is in fact going to make an appearance, the next thing you want to do is make sure that dogs are allowed at your wedding venue.

Make sure you arrange for care before, during, and after the ceremony and reception, so a handler has specific responsibility for your dog at all times.

Make sure to have an exit plan if they can’t sit through the ceremony, or things don’t go as expected on the wedding day.

One last thing is you might consider wedding insurance, especially with a dog in attendance.

To many of us, our dogs are such an important part of our lives.  To celebrate such a life changing event without our furbabies there to share in the love just wouldn’t seem right!

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Jamie and Curtis

Posted by on October 13th, 2014

Curtis and Jamie’s wedding had a gorgeous and airy vibe inspired by the nature around them.  The couple gave personalized packets of wild flower seeds as favors for their guests–we loved this idea!  Jamie and Curtis got married at Ten Mile Station on top of peak 10 in Breckenridge, Colorado.  The bride was gorgeous , but the best dog Blue stole the show in his his baby blue bow tie!  Thank you 11th Door Photography for sharing these images.

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Kristin and Bobby’s Colorado Mountain Wedding at V3 Ranch

Posted by on August 26th, 2014

Kristin and Bobby took V3 Ranch in Breckenridge, Colorado and made it their own.  There was nothing traditional about this wedding!  A DIY paper flower chandelier hung from the tent ceiling  and hand made terrariums filled with succulents adorned the tables.  Even Kristin herself was nontraditional in a gorgeous multi colored wedding dress!  A huge thank you to Mark and Michelle of IN photography for sharing these amazing images!

Breckenridge Wedding Planner, Is Married!

Posted by on July 11th, 2014

Everyone says how much fun it is to get married. I guess I just didn’t know how much fun it could be. Never in my wildest dreams did I know it could go so well and I could have this much of a great time! I think Johnna, my business partner, is tired of hearing me say it but it’s true. 🙂 I guess it’s due to always being on the other side of planning. As wedding planners, we are hired to make the day run smooth. In making the day run smoothly, we can encounter obstacles and we have to think on our feet about how to fix them without the bride knowing. On my wedding day, I became the clueless bride. It was fabulous. The reason I could become a clueless bride? We hired a wedding planner!! 🙂

Someone once said to Johnna and I while we were working a wedding that your wedding day shouldn’t be the best day of your life. I agree and disagree with this statement. I think you should have many ‘best days of your life’. One of them definitely being your wedding day. That day was one of the best days of my life, so far. Everywhere we looked, there was someone we knew and loved very much. The feeling was spectacular!

To all of you future couples:

1. Enjoy every moment. Soak up every second. Do not spend any time being stressed. Which brings me to my second recommendation.

2. Hire a wedding planner 😉 … Maybe this should be rule #1

3. Do not sweat the small stuff. Once the day is over, you cannot get it back so do not spend the time stressing about things you cannot control.

4. If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, consider the fact that your veil might be flying in the wind. I didn’t have a veil but I see it all the time so I thought I would mention it. 🙂

5. Do a first look. I will address the reasons why in a future post…stay tuned.

6. Make a ‘shot list’ for your photographer. This communicates exactly what you expect of them which makes it so much better for everyone.

7. Eat and stay hydrated. This seems like a no brainier but trust me, it can slip your mind.

8. When people offer help, take it. Even when there is nothing to be done. If Aunt Jane is asking you what she can do, make up something. Yes Aunt Jane, I would love a latte. This way she is feeling helpful and you get a little caffeine boost. Win win!

9. Make it your own. I had my sister stand up with me and husband had his two brothers. Yes it was lopsided, but it was us.

10. Have the ‘best day of your life’!!! 🙂

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Stacey & Scott

Posted by on May 22nd, 2014

Stacey and Scott approached us to coordinate their wedding towards the end of the summer. Their original wedding venue was unfortunately destroyed the Colorado floods. We were more than happy to help in anyway we could to make their dream wedding come true. It was a chilly October day but that didn’t stop you from seeing the love and warmth they had for each other. Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge, Colorado became the perfect wedding venue for Stacey and Scott to begin their happily ever after. Thank you Alison of Alison White Photography for these awesome photos. Click here to check out her amazing work!
