Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Ana & Matt
Posted by elizabeth waldmann on February 25th, 2016
These two, if I could wrap them up and put them in my pocket I totally would. I only worked with Ana throughout the entire planning process and she is such a doll. It wasn’t until about a week out that I met her future hubby Matt for the first time. The two of them are just great people. You could see that Matt truly appreciated all of the planning that Ana had been doing and that he was so excited to marry her. Swoon! Ok, ok enough rambling on about these two. On to the details of their wedding day.
We chose the Breckenridge Nordic Center for their ceremony and reception. This is a cross country ski lodge in the winter and transforms to the most amazing wedding venue in the summer. Such a stunning place to get married. The sun was shining and the day was perfect for their outdoor nuptials. After the ceremony guests stayed outside and enjoyed some bluegrass sound from Andy Straus from the Hunker Down Band while taking in the expansive mountain views. After cocktail hour guests were asked to be seated for dinner inside the lodge. The tables were beautifully adorned with flowers from Bloom Flower Shop. Next guests listened to an amazing welcome toast given by Ana’s dad and then dinner served! Ana and Matt opted for a tasting menu style dinner that left everyone satisfied. Biscuits and Berries served this seamlessly and the food was spectacular. Then it was party time! Jay from Standing Room Only had everyone dancing throughout the evening. A huge shout out to Sarah Hays Photography. Without her extreme talent and keen eye, I wouldn’t have the amazing photos below to share with you. Enjoy!
Congratulations Ana and Matt! Thank you for choosing Distinctive Mountain Events to be your wedding planners and including us your very special day!

The Perfect Groomsmen Gift!
Posted by elizabeth waldmann on January 11th, 2016
Often times our wedding couples ask us for examples of unique bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts. This is a time to really thank your wedding party for being a part of your special day. Why not give them something that when they use it, they will remember the big day and how much you appreciate them. The guys at Groovy Groomsmen Gifts totally get it. Not only can you give your groomsmen an awesome gift, you can personalize it too, how cool?! Take for example the Whiskey Chilling Stones. I can speak to these amazing stones because I was able to try them for myself. Now, I’m not so much of a whiskey gal but I do love my white wine. The problem with white wine is it doesn’t always keep that nice chill that you look for when drinking it and putting ice cubes in it just waters it down. Boo. Cue these awesome little gems. Pop these babies in the freezer and when you are ready, simply place them in your glass to keep your beverage cold without diluting it. Brilliant! Check out the rest of the groomsmen gift ideas at www.groovygroomsmengifts.com. If you do, please comment on what you purchased and what you thought of it! Cheers!

Headline reads: Toronto Couple Cancels Big Wedding to Help Sponsor Syrian Refugee Family Instead.
A Toronto couple recently canceled their big wedding to use the money instead to help sponsor a Syrian refugee family’s settlement into Canada.
Samantha Jackson and Farzin Yousefian had planned a traditional wedding for March — complete with a gorgeous venue, a caterer and other vendors – costing tens of thousands of dollars, Jackson told ABC News today.
But the two decided to toss their plans after realizing the money could be used for a cause close to their hearts and greater than themselves, said Jackson, a doctorate student studying public policy.
“We were in the midst of wedding planning in September when that devastating photo of 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi found on a beach came out,” Jackson said. “Like so many other people, we became acutely aware of how bad the situation was getting and how important it was to act and do something positive, so we canceled the wedding and redirected the funds.”
