Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Wedding Party Idea

Posted by on January 23rd, 2018

Last December my husband and I were asked by a couple of our friends to take a cooking class. Honestly we didn’t have much going on and we love our friends so we thought what the heck?! I had no idea it would be so much fun and that I would actually learn a few things. We took the class in a professional kitchen at Colorado Mountain College under the instruction of Ian Buchanan. We had some instruction in the beginning, a tour of the kitchen then we were really set loose. Everything was at our fingertips which was awesome. I was looking for the hard boiled eggs only to find out I had to do it myself. Ha! I always had a difficult time hard boiling eggs. The high altitude is a true challenge and mine always come out either over or under done. I thought about walking out right there. But with some direction from Ian, he taught me to hard boil a perfect egg that I still use today. Eggs in cold water, bring to a boil, set for  13 minutes, remove from heat, let sit for 5 minutes in hot water then place in cold water until cool enough to peel. Perfect! As you can see from the photos, after all of our hard work we were able to enjoy all of the yummy food with a glass of wine. I totally recommend doing this with anyone. I think it would be a perfect thing for your fiance, parents and future inlaws to all do together. Check out the calendar of events by clicking here. We can’t wait to hear how it goes!!

Destination Wedding Planner: Tips for including your dog in your big day

Posted by on January 3rd, 2018

Picture of a bride and her dog

Your wedding day, it’s one of the most special days of your life.  Of course you want to be surrounded  by ALL of your loved ones!  As a wedding planner in the Colorado Rocky Mountains my favorite trend over the past few years is couples involving their four legged friends in their wedding.  Including your furry friend in your big day will absolutely make the day more memorable, but it also requires some thought.  Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Make sure that your venue allows dogs  Some venues have strict no pets policies.
  2. Designate a dog handler for the day  Assign one person to be responsible for your fur baby for the time he or she is at the wedding.  This frees up the bride and groom and also lets Fido be included in the big day.
  3. Take a trip to the Groomers Make sure your dog looks and smells delicious for the wedding.
  4. Don’t forget the Photos  Make sure you hire a dog friendly photographer and include your pup in your shot list.
  5. Practice, practice, practice  Spend some time training your dog–whether it is walking down the aisle or wearing a bow tie.
  6. Have an exit plan  If your dog can’t sit through the ceremony or things don’t go as expected.

Thank you Lindsey Boluyt for the fun photo!

Colorado Wedding Planner: Breckenridge Welcome Party

Posted by on December 6th, 2017

As wedding planners in the Colorado Rocky Mountains we not only plan destination weddings but all of the events that go with them i.e. brunches, bridal lunches, rehearsal dinners and welcome parties.  Planning this welcome party with mother of the groom Mary Gray was an absolute blast!  Mary was fun, creative, and open to everything.  Her vision was a laid back, casual party heavy on Colorado flavor.  We brightened up the Carter Park Pavilion with yellow and white checked linens from Colorado Tents and Events and vibrant florals from Petal and Bean.  The menu was BBQ from Moe’s Original Bar B Que and beer served out of the back of a vintage Ford Model T truck.  So cute!  Playing guitar and singing, Drew Reges kept the party lively as Timothy Faust of Timothy Faust Photography  caught it all on film!

Breckenridge Wedding Planner: Ellen & Greg

Posted by on May 29th, 2017

Ellen and Greg. These two were married last September and as luck would have it, it snowed the night before so not only did they get the gorgeous yellow Aspens but they also got snow on the mountains in the background! It was so beautiful! It was a little chilly but guests stayed warm in their blanket that doubled as a wedding favor. One of my favorite moments of this wedding was that Greg’s father doubled as the officiant. There was so much love and emotion. Greg even gave his dad a hug to help him through the ceremony. After the ceremony guests filed into Ten Mile Station for the cocktail hour and then the reception. Bloom Flower Shop did all of the elegant floral arrangements. Courtney of Hampton Entertainment kept the dance floor packed all night with one hit after another. Thank you to Tim of Timothy Faust Photography for capturing the wonderful wedding day!

Destination Wedding Planner: 5 Cool Groomsmen Gifts They Will Actually Use

Posted by on March 20th, 2017

If you’re reading this, then you’re probably having a hard time looking for the perfect groomsmen gifts. To help you out, here are some practical yet personalized groomsmen gifts your friends will love:

  1. Personalized mugs with caricature

Add a splash of fun to the usual gift mug by having your groomsmen’s faces hand painted on it. These mugs are perfect for toasting during the rehearsal dinner or for holding alcohol on your stag party. You can easily find online sites that sell personalized mugs. Have them add your groomsmen’s name below the caricature or print your wedding date underneath.

  1. Travel bags for the adventurous pal

If you’re having a destination wedding, why not give your guys a travel bag to mark the day? You can choose from a variety of sizes depending on the length of your event. You can find bags small enough for a weekend getaway or big enough for a week-long stay at the beach. Stylish travel bags are always welcome gifts for friends who are frequent travelers. They can also be versatile and be used for work or the gym

  1. An organizer for the messy fellow

We all have that buddy who constantly loses their keys, pens, or watches. For your guy friend, this Dock ‘n Roll will help him organize his keys or phone so he’ll never have to fumble around looking for them. It also has multi-functional features with slots for his phone, key chain, and watches or bracelets. You can also give a tie organizer, for friends who have an abundance of ties. Now he can keep his room clean and keep his ties off the floor.

  1. Funky accessories

A pair of socks with fun and colorful designs will definitely add some pop to your groomsmen’s attire. They’re fun to wear and can be worn wherever he likes – be it at work, the gym, or even on your wedding day. Level up their style by giving them a funky pair of bifocal glasses. These funky accessories are the perfect mix of practicality and style.
